This illustration depicts a scientific advance in phase change memory (PCM) using only one element, antimony. The idea behind the illustration was to represent the monatomic layer as an elegant and simplified solution to building better PCM devices without the complications of different mixtures of elements. The illustration graced the August 2018 journal cover of Nature Materials. Read more about the Phase Change Memory project.
